Where are you from (Country and/or State)?
Southern Ohio in the good ol' USA
How did you get into the Mag7 fandom?
Watched the series on CBS and then when
I got my computer, began prowling for something to read and stumbled
on Jean's wonderful Abandoned... and was hooked all over again.
How long have you been writing Mag7
fanfiction?
Since the aired show
How has your writing changed since you
first started?
LOL! I hope for the better! But I guess
that is for the readers to decide.
Is this your only fandom, your major
fandom or one of the many?
It is the only fandom I currently write.
I have written and edited in several others over the years.
What is it about this fandom that you
like?
The characters. They each bring something
to the table and it is a nice challenge to work them together.
Also, this fandom as a group is one of the nicest I've encountered.
And there is such an abundance of very talented writers who are
a joy to read...and reread!
Did you like the Old West before Mag7
or did that come afterwards?
Oh, gee! I've loved westerns since discovering
Zane Grey when I was ten years old! Dating myself here, I grew up
watching all the old westerns... Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, High Chaparral....
long before they came to TV Land and
Hallmark! LOL!
Did you see the show before you got
into the fandom or after, or haven't you seen the show yet?
I saw the show before.
What do you think about the show opposed
to the fandom? Is the show your main interest and the fandom comes
after or the other way around and why?
Seeing the show before finding the fandom,
I have to say there just wasn't enough episodes to satisfy me and
I truly love the way the writers have expanded this world and expounded
on the characters....
What are you working on right now?
Editing SassySouix's next piece! And
I have two stories of my own which have been currently sidelined
due to
overwhelming pressure of real life. I hope to get back to them soon.
How and where do you write?
Oddly enough, I long hand my original
ideas with pen and paper and later type and expand the polished
draft at the
computer. As to where I write... any place I can!
What's the hardest part about writing
in this fandom?
Doing justice to all the characters.
Someone always gets shorted.
Why do you write?
Because I have to! It's just a part of
who I am. I don't think I can honestly remember a time when I haven't
written!
What writers do you think you've been
influenced by?
The aforementioned Zane Grey... he paints
such wonderful visuals with his words. Louis L'Amour... who writes
such action, and such depth of characters with his Sacketts. Jack
Shaffer.... who captured the cowboy dying breed with his Shane and
Monte Walsh.
What advice would you offer to beginning
writers?
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! And if you want
to be a writer, then start by being a reader! Read everything and
anything. And once you start writing, have fun and trust your characters!
They'll tell you where they want to go!
Where do you get your inspiration for
your stories from?
Out of thin air. They just 'happen.'
It goes back to the previous remark... the characters tell me what
they want and I run with it....
Do you read any of the other AU's (ATF,
LB and so on) out there and do you have a favourite?
This is the first fandom where I've actually
broken down and read an AU! I really enjoy reading the ATF universe.
And I have to say I love Sassy's Lil' Ezra series.
What do you look for as a reader of
fanfiction?
A story that is well written, with as
few errors as possible! I figure if an author cares enough to take
pains with their work, then it is worth reading. If there's ten
misspellings and bad punctuation in the first two lines, I don't
care how great a plot it has, I ain't gonna read no further. I do
like a good plot, with believable characters acting true to their
nature.
Do you think there's anything missing
in the fandom? Types of stories or certain characters that you'd
like to see more of?
I think it could use a little more opening
up of other characters... so many stories just focus on the Seven,
which is fine, but it does get stale after a while. C'mon, there
are more people in town than Inez and Mary and Billy! I'd like to
see more interaction with OFCs.
Are there any characters or situations
that you don't think you'll ever write?
I will never write a slash story and
no death fics.
Who's your favourite character and why?
Vin. He is a lost and dying breed...
a lost loner who has fought to find his own way. Those types of
loner characters have always struck a chord in me.
Who's your second favourite character
and why?
Ezra. He's so complex and full of surprises.
When you think you know him, he ups and surprises the hell out of
you.
Who's your favourite bad guy and why?
Ella Gaines. Just a nice twisted bitch
in a male dominated arena.
What's your favourite episode and why?
Wagon Train.... It showed a side of Vin
we'd not seen....
What's your favourite story and why?
Jean's Abandoned. As I stated earlier,
that story got me hooked on M7 fanfic.
Any favourite author?
SassySouix, of course!
What storyline would you most have liked
to see in season 3?
Any which expanded the characters and
their backgrounds.
If you could change one thing about
the show, what would it be?
More episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
